Job summary

General Motors seeks Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer Interns for hands-on support across multiple plant areas in Bedford, IN and other locations. You will perform mechanical root cause analysis, support design/build of tools, and assist maintenance in operation of specialized equipment.

Eligible students will work full-time during the program. Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, graduating Aug 2027–Jun 2029, and able to work in a plant

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical root cause analysis and problem solving
• Analyze product, process and technology to identify best manufacturing methods
• Assist design and build of tools/equipment or suggest process improvements
• Support maintenance in operation and upkeep of specialized equipment
• Troubleshoot maintenance and equipment issues
• Coordinate machinery upgrade projects
• Lift/carry materials up to 15–40 lbs as needed
• Occasionally sit, climb ladders, and operate vehicles/equipment
