Job summary

University of the Virgin Islands is seeking a energetic student worker for a work-study role in spring 2027 and summer 2027. You will help provide excellent customer service, greet patrons, and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming facility environment.

Responsibilities include assisting patrons with equipment use, checking in users, processing payments, balancing cash, enforcing rules, and reporting hazards. The position offers growth in leadership and management within fitness services.

Responsibilities

• Greet patrons upon entry and ensure a positive daily experience for facility users.
• Assist patrons with questions regarding equipment operation and proper use of the facility.
• Register new patrons and accurately check in all users using the facility database system.
• Process customer transactions accurately, including credit card and check payments.
• Balance cash drawer and complete settlement reports at the end of each shift.
• Enforce center rules, safety standards, and sanitation requirements at all times.
• Assist with the implementation of emergency action plans when required.
• Follow shift responsibility checklists and monitor fitness rooms and restrooms.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning equipment, refilling water coolers and supplies, re-racking weights, and completing minor equipment repairs.
• Document and report equipment malfunctions, facility issues, and safety hazards to the center administrator.
