Job summary

The University of Virginia's Department of Recreation is seeking a student employee to support the operation of indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. The role focuses on customer service, facility maintenance, safety, and teamwork with staff and the broader university community.

Responsibilities include welcoming members, processing memberships, assisting with opening/closing, monitoring access, responding to emergencies, and keeping areas clean.

Qualifications

• Must be a current UVA student.
• Commit 6–12 hours per week.
• Available for opening/closing shifts, Friday nights, weekends, and academic breaks.
• Successfully complete department training.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and in-service sessions.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high-quality customer-service experience for students, faculty, staff, and guests.
• Respond to emergencies and follow incident procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and assist with daily opening/closing procedures.
• Serve as key link between members, the Facility Operations Supervisor, and full-time staff, enforcing department policies.
• Monitor access and process memberships through Innosoft Fusion.
