Job summary

MKC in Kansas seeks an Operations Manager to direct all aspects of a grain elevator, including maintenance, product quality control, and sales of seed and feed. You will supervise both full- and part-time employees, assist customers with fertilizer and chemical inquiries, orders, and complaints, and complete special projects as assigned by the area manager.

• Proven management skills.
• Knowledge of elevator machinery and basic repairs.
• Knowledge of grains and seed/feed products.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Computer and data entry skills.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical information.
• Ability to communicate with customers and regulators.

Responsibilities

• Receive and ship grain efficiently with available staff.
• Maintain grain quality and improve procedures.
• Blend grains to maximize grade and price.
• Provide drying services and report grades for charges.
• Inspect shipments and report grades and quantities.
• Ensure OSHA and safety regulations; conduct monthly safety trainings.
• Maintain all grain handling equipment and plan major repairs.
• Provide agronomic recommendations to customers.
• Grow customer base and ensure product quality in territory.
• Maintain NH3 equipment and supply to customers.
• Supervise and train staff; handle performance issues with area manager.
• Promote teamwork and a positive company image.
• Greet customers, assist loading/unloading, and resolve issues.
• Attend meetings to improve skills and profitability.
• Bill accurately and communicate delivery details.
• Enforce credit policy and manage inventory.
