Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking an Audit Director with a State and Local Government specialization to guide engagements and mentor staff. The role offers a fast track to partnership and a hybrid work environment with relocation assistance available.

The Director serves as liaison between partners, clients, and staff, managing multiple audits, coordinating workflow, and expanding business with client networks. Travel is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years of public accounting experience with at least 2 years in a senior manager role.
• Significant experience auditing state and local governments (cities, counties, districts, charter schools).
• Current and valid CPA license.
• Willingness to travel to client and firm locations.
• Experience with GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS, and the Uniform Guidance.
• Ability to recruit and train staff.
• Exposure to not-for-profit audits.
• Proven ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.

Responsibilities

• Maintains ongoing client contact and deep knowledge of client operations and controls.
• Acts as engagement partner or reports to the engagement partner on engagements.
• Signs attest opinions when assigned as engagement partner.
• Oversees all engagement phases and ensures deliverables meet standards.
• Keeps the engagement Partner informed of important developments and issues.
• Ensures engagements are properly scheduled and staffed.
• Acts as a subject matter expert for governmental disciplines.
• Oversees billing and collections by engagement teams.
• Supervises staff and provides on-the-job training; reviews work papers.
• Leads staff performance evaluations and counseling.
• Participates in recruitment of Assurance/Advisory staff and candidates.
• Represents the firm in business development and client meetings.
• Leads initial client contacts, fee estimates, and pursuit activities.
• Ensures compliance with firm-wide policies.
