Job summary

Progressive regonal CPA firm seeks an Audit Director with State and Local Government specialization. Hybrid work environment with relocation assistance. The Director coordinates engagements, mentors staff, and develops new business, serving as liaison among partners, clients, and staff.

The role requires extensive public accounting experience in government audits, CPA licensure, and ability to travel to client and office locations. Fast track to partnership is emphasized with a balanced workload.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years in public accounting with 2+ years in a senior manager role
• Significant experience auditing state and local governments (cities, counties, districts, charters)
• CPA license required and active
• Ability to travel to client and firm locations
• Proven track record in new business development for a CPA firm
• Experience with GAAS/GAAP and Yellow Book standards
• Experience directing, reviewing, and training staff
• Experience auditing not-for-profit organizations

Responsibilities

• Maintain year-round client contact and deep knowledge of client operations and controls
• Serve as engagement partner or report to partner on engagements per firm policy
• Sign attest opinions as engagement partner when assigned
• Oversee all phases of engagements and ensure deliverables meet accounting framework and firm policy
• Inform engagement Partner of important developments and resolve issues
• Schedule and staff engagements and manage engagement workflow
• Act as SME in government sector and oversee client billing and collections
• Direct, review, and train staff on engagements and performance evaluations
• Participate in staff recruitment and candidacy interviews for Assurance/Advisory
• Lead business development with prospective clients and prepare fee estimates
• Represent the firm in business development and client outreach
• Maintain compliance with firm-wide policies and procedures
