Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking an Audit Director with a State and Local Government specialization for a fast track to partnership. The role offers a hybrid work environment, relocation assistance, and the opportunity to lead multiple government audits while developing staff and expanding client relationships.

You will oversee engagements, sign attestations as needed, and coordinate staffing and workflow across engagements with a focus on client service and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting with 2+ years in a senior manager role.
• Significant public sector experience including auditing state and local governments.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Holds a current and valid CPA license.
• Ability to travel to client and firm locations.
• Proven ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.
• Experience auditing under GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS and the Uniform Guidance.
• Ability to direct, review and train departmental staff.
• Exposure to audits of not-for-profit organizations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contact with clients throughout the year; knowledge of client operations and control systems.
• Either serves as engagement partner or reports to the engagement partner on engagements.
• Signs attest opinions as a representative of the firm when acting as engagement partner.
• Oversees all phases of reporting to engagement partner and ensures compliance with framework and policy.
• Advises the engagement Partner on important developments and potential issues; implements solutions.
• Ensures engagements are properly scheduled.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for governmental sector.
• Ensures billing and collection practices align with firm policy.
• Supervises staff on engagements and provides on-the-job training.
• Pivotal role in staff performance evaluations and counseling.
• Participates in recruitment and interviews for Assurance and Advisory staff.
• Represents the firm in business development and client networking.
• Leads prospective client engagements, communicates with potential clients, and prepares fee estimates.
• Maintains compliance with all Firm-wide policies and procedures.
