Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking an Audit Director with State and Local Government specialization in the San Francisco area. This role offers a hybrid work environment, relocation assistance, and a fast-track path to partnership.

The Director liaises between Partners, clients, and staff, managing multiple audits, staffing, and engagement workflows. It requires strong leadership, client development, and government auditing expertise.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting and a minimum of 2 years in a senior manager position.
• Public sector focus including audits of state and local governments.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA license.
• Ability to travel to client and firm locations.
• Experience with GAGAS/Yellow Book, GAAS, and the Uniform Guidance.
• Proven ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contact with clients throughout the year and manages engagements.
• Leads engagements or reports directly to the engagement partner; signs attest opinions when assigned.
• Oversees all phases of engagements and ensures deliverables comply with applicable standards and firm policy.
• Keeps the engagement Partner informed of developments and issues; implements solutions after consultation.
• Schedules engagements and coordinates staffing; trains staff as needed.
• Acts as SME in governmental sector and supports business development with clients.
• Ensures billing and collection practices align with firm policy; maintains client relationships.
• Participates in recruitment and interviews for Assurance and Advisory roles.
