Job summary

Progressive regional CPA firm is seeking an Audit Director with a State and Local Government specialization. This role offers a fast track to partnership and a reasonable work-life balance within a hybrid work environment. Relocation assistance is available as needed.

The Director will liaise with Partners, clients, and staff, manage multiple engagements, and develop staff while pursuing new business opportunities in the governmental sector.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years' experience in public accounting and a minimum of 2 years in a senior manager position with public sector focus.
• Experience auditing state and local governments (cities, counties, districts, charter schools).
• Holds a current CPA license and ability to travel to client and firm locations.
• Proven track record bringing in new business to a CPA firm.
• Experience with GAAS, GAAP, GAGAS/Yellow Book, and Uniform Guidance required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain client relationships and oversee multiple engagements across governmental sectors.
• Serve as engagement partner or report to partner; sign attest opinions when needed.
• Oversee engagement workflow, staffing, and timely client deliverables.
• Identify issues, communicate progress to partners, and implement solutions.
• Schedule engagements and ensure compliance with firm policies.
• Act as a subject matter expert in government audits and train staff.
• Lead business development and develop client networks for the firm.
• Participate in recruitment and candidate interviews for Assurance and Advisory.
