Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking an Audit Director with a strong State and Local Government specialization to accelerate toward partnership. The role blends client leadership, staff development, and business development in a hybrid work setting with relocation support.

The Director liaises with Partners, clients, and staff to manage multi-engagement audits, delivers high-quality attest services, and mentors teams across governmental accounts. Travel as required by client needs.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10 years in public accounting with significant public sector audit experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; CPA license required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain client relationships and oversee multiple audit engagements.
• Lead engagement partner role or report to the engagement partner as per firm policies.
• Sign attest opinions as a representative of the firm when assigned the role of engagement partner.
• Oversee all phases of engagements and ensure deliverables meet GAAS, GAAP, and Yellow Book standards.
• Communicate developments to the Partner and client; identify issues and implement solutions.
• Schedule engagements, staff appropriately, and train staff on engagements.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in governmental sector audits.
• Ensure timely billing and collections; manage client invoicing.
• Lead staff performance evaluations and provide coaching.
• Assist in recruiting and interviewing Assurance and Advisory candidates.
• Lead business development efforts and generate new client opportunities.
• Lead initial client communications, provide fee estimates, and participate in meetings.
