Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) project development across the US and internationally. The role focuses on preliminary design evaluation and coordination with Business Development, Execution and Finance teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in renewable energy project development, with proficiency in PV and storage modeling tools, CAD, and advanced Excel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
Proficiency with modeling tools like PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope and Plant Predict.
Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD and advanced MS Excel.

Responsibilities

Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
Project pricing and value engineering exercises with an Estimator.
Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
Technical diligence for new project opportunities, assessing third-party data.
Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition conceptual to 30% design studies.
Development of technical deliverables for RFP responses and proposals.
