Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage project development across the US and internationally, focusing on projects from 2 MW to 500 MW. This role involves preliminary design evaluation and close coordination with Business Development, Execution and Finance teams.

The candidate should have depth in photovoltaic and storage system design, with experience in proposal generation and Power Purchase Agreement economics.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
• Proficiency with common renewable energy system modeling tools such as PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope and Plant Predict.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD and MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
• Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
• Project pricing and value engineering with an Estimator.
• Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
• Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
• Technical diligence for new project opportunities, assessing third-party data.
