Job summary

Nordson PPS seeks an experienced Field Service Engineer to provide on-site technical support for polymer processing systems across customer locations. You will install, startup, commission, troubleshoot, and perform preventive maintenance on extrusion dies, screen changers, melt pumps, valves, pelletizers, and related equipment.

You will train customers, document service activities, and collaborate with Sales, Engineering, and Aftermarket teams to identify improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or two-year technical degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred; hands-on work may replace.
• Five+ years of field service in plastics extrusion or related equipment preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues in industrial environments.
• Experience with extrusion tooling, dies, screen changers, and related PPS equipment preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CRM/Salesforce preferred.

Responsibilities

• Travel domestically and internationally to serve as Nordson’s primary technical representative at customer sites.
• Review drawings and customer expectations before travel to understand equipment and requirements.
• Prepare tools, equipment, and safety items for service assignments.
• Provide installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance for PPS equipment.
• Train customer personnel on safe operation and best practices.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control issues; resolve root causes.
• Perform hands-on field service safely with PPE and proper safety practices.
• Complete service reports documenting work, condition, actions, and follow-ups.
• Capture installed base data and feedback in CRM/service management systems.
• Provide technical support to customers by phone, email, or Teams.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Manufacturing, and Aftermarket to resolve issues.
• Prepare field service quotations and recommendations for scope, parts, and upgrades.
• Comply with all safety requirements and travel safety practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
