Job summary

Leonid Group, on behalf of a global leader in optical and photonic technologies, seeks an Export Control Manager/Senior Manager based in San Jose, CA to oversee US export controls, licensing, and regulatory compliance. The role leads classification, licensing, screening, and technology control programs across the Americas Trade Operations Team.

Applicants should have 8+ years' experience with EAR/ITAR, strong analytical and cross-functional advisory skills, and a track record of implementing

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in related field.
8+ years of U.S. export control experience with EAR/ITAR and sanctions.
Proven ability to perform classification, licensing, screening, and technology control.
Strong analytical, judgment, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, global environment.
Experience with Global Trade Management or ERP-based compliance tools.
Certifications such as CES or CUSECO are a plus.

Responsibilities

Export Control Classification for hardware and tech under EAR/ITAR; maintain ECCNs.
License management: identify requirements, prepare, submit, and track licenses.
End-use, end-user, destination screening; sanctions checks and due diligence.
Deemed export and technology control: TCPs and access controls.
Compliance program management, monitoring, training and audits.
Cross-functional advisory across Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, IT.
Process improvement and digital tools to modernize export operations.
External engagement with regulators and trade associations.
