Job summary

Lumentum, based in New York, seeks a Senior Export Control Operations Lead to support U.S. export operations and strengthen global compliance.

You will serve as a subject matter expert on EAR/ITAR, oversee licensing, classification, and screening, and drive program enhancements across the Americas Trade Operations Team. Requirements include 12+ years in export control, strong analytical and communication skills, and experience with GTM/ERP tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in international business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related.
• 12+ years of U.S. export control experience with EAR/ITAR and U.S. sanctions.
• Hands-on experience in classification, licensing, screening and technology control.
• Strong analytical skills and sound judgment in regulatory scenarios.
• Experience with Global Trade Management or ERP-based compliance tools.
• Professional certifications such as CES or CUSECO are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Determine export jurisdiction and classification for hardware and technology under EAR/ITAR.
• Identify licensing requirements and prepare, submit, and manage export licenses.
• Conduct end-use, end-user, destination, and sanctions screening with due diligence.
• Manage deemed export compliance and develop Technology Control Plans (TCPs).
• Support global export compliance program improvements and deliver training.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, IT to integrate export controls.
• Lead process improvements and evaluate automation for compliance
• Represent Lumentum in external export control forums and stay updated on regulatory trends
