Job summary

Lumentum in the United States is seeking a Senior Export Control Operations Lead to support U.S. export operations and strengthen the company’s global export compliance framework. This role serves as the SME on U.S.

export controls across EAR/ITAR and related regulations. The Senior Lead will manage classification, licensing, end-use/end-user screening, deemed export controls, and compliance program improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in international business, supply chain, engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of U.S. export control experience with the EAR, ITAR, and U.S. sanctions.
• Hands-on experience with classification, licensing, screening, and technology control requirements.
• Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and attention to detail in complex regulatory scenarios.
• Effective communicator with the ability to advise and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced, global environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with Global Trade Management or ERP-based compliance tools.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CES, CUSECO) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Determine and document export jurisdiction and classification for hardware and technology under EAR/ITAR.
• Identify licensing requirements and manage export licenses and amendments.
• Conduct end-use, end-user, destination, and restricted-party screening.
• Manage deemed export compliance and Technology Control Plans (TCPs).
• Support continuous improvement of the global export compliance program and training.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, IT, and other teams to embed export control in operations.
• Lead process and workflow improvements, automation, and digital tools.
• Represent Lumentum in external export control forums and stay aligned with regulatory trends.
