Job summary

Lumentum seeks a Senior Export Control Operations Lead to support U.S. export operations and strengthen global compliance. You will serve as the subject matter expert on EAR/ITAR, manage classifications, licensing, screening, and deemed export controls for the Americas region.

This role partners with Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, IT and other teams to embed export control requirements into daily operations, drive process improvements, and provide training on regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in international business, supply chain, engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of U.S. export control experience with EAR, ITAR, and U.S. sanctions.
• Hands-on experience with complex classification, licensing, screening, and technology control requirements.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to complex regulatory scenarios.
• Effective communicator able to advise and collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Export Control Classification: Determine jurisdiction and classification for hardware and technology under EAR/ITAR; assign ECCNs and maintain records.
• Export Licensing Management: Identify licensing needs, prepare, submit, and manage licenses including TAAs and MLAs; ensure audit-ready documentation.
• End-Use, End-User, and Destination Screening: Conduct end-use/end-user screening, sanctions checks, red flags, and due diligence.
• Deemed Export & Technology Control: Manage deemed export compliance, TCPs, access reviews, and license-tracking.
• Compliance Program Management, Regulatory Monitoring & Training: Support improvements to global export compliance; deliver training on export controls and ITAR.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Advisory: Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales, IT to integrate export control into operations.
• Process Improvement, Automation & Digital Innovation: Lead workflow improvements and automation to enhance data accuracy and efficiency.
• External Engagement & Regulatory Interface: Engage with industry groups and regulators to stay ahead of regulatory developments.
