Job summary

Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Inc. is seeking a senior accounting leader to drive close processes, policy development, and financial reporting for HIMSS and related entities.

You will oversee global accounting activities, implement strong internal controls, and coordinate external audits while guiding a skilled team in a fast-paced nonprofit healthcare tech environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; MS or MBA preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• At least ten years of experience in industry or public accounting.
• Experience managing remote teams and international operations.
• Strong ethics and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Accounting Department for monthly, quarterly and annual closes and prepare internal/external statements.
• Develop and enforce financial policies to safeguard assets.
• Oversee AR aging, billings, cash receipts and merchant accounting with oversight by Assistant Controller.
• Oversee AP, POs, payroll, cash control and tax compliance.
• Manage accounting for HIMSS international offices with currency translation and VAT compliance.
• Lead system enhancements with NetSuite/Concur/ADP and coordinate with vendors.
• Plan and direct audit work papers and reconciliations for audits.
• Advise CFO/CEO on accounting policies and GAAP application.
• Improve accuracy and transparency of accounting records and schedules.
• Direct fixed asset reporting and inventory processes.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff, conduct performance reviews.
