Job summary

HIMSS, a global health IT nonprofit, is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead accounting operations, ensure accurate financial closes, and uphold GAAP across entities. This role partners with the CFO and executive team to deliver timely financial statements and drive strong internal controls.

The ideal candidate has a decade of accounting experience, CPA preferred, and a track record mentoring teams while managing complex international operations and ERP integrations such as NetSuite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; MS or MBA preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• A minimum of ten (10) years of full-time experience in industry or public accounting with international operations.
• Excellent accounting, analytics and ethical standards; deadline-focused.
• Proven ability to mentor accounting professionals and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Accounting Department in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Develop and enforce accounting policies to safeguard assets.
• Manage accounts receivable aging, billing, cash receipts, and merchant accounting.
• Oversee accounts payable, payroll processing, and payroll tax compliance.
• Lead accounting activities of international offices with GAAP compliance.
• Maintain systems and controls for data integrity in financial processes.
• Coordinate financial system enhancements and third-party integrations.
• Plan and direct audit work papers and reconciliations with senior leaders.
• Provide leadership on accounting policy and financial reporting to executives.
• Improve transparency and quality of accounting records and schedules.
