Job summary

Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, Inc. (HIMSS) seeks an experienced accounting leader to manage the organization’s accounting operations and close processes. This role ensures accurate financial statements, strong internal controls, and GAAP compliance across HIMSS and related entities.

You will lead the accounting team, coordinate with external auditors, and guide policy, systems implementations, and financial reporting to support the CFO and executive management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting; MS or MBA preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• At least 10 years of full-time experience in industry or public accounting, including managing remote teams and international operations.
• Proven ability to mentor accounting professionals and lead teams.
• Experience using technology to meet financial close goals; NetSuite experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Accounting Department's monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and provide reconciled financial information for internal and external statements.
• Develop and enforce financial policies to safeguard organizational assets.
• Manage accounts receivable aging, billings, cash receipts, merchant accounting, and payroll tax compliance with oversight from Assistant Controller.
• Oversee accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, expense reports, and payroll processing.
• Ensure GAAP compliance for currency translation and foreign tax liability in HIMSS entities while maintaining internal controls.
