Job summary

FutureCare is seeking a Respiratory Therapist in the Baltimore area to support respiratory care procedures and patient assessments under physician orders. The role emphasizes individualized treatment plans, with opportunities to educate residents and families, and work within the facility’s nursing team.

Requirements include Maryland licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, at least 1 year of clinical respiratory experience, and current CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Current licensure from the state of Maryland as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Minimum of 1-year clinical respiratory experience.
• Current CPR training with recertification every two years.
• Must show recognition of and attention to the psychosocial needs of residents and their families.
• Ability to communicate using the English language in written and verbal form.
• Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds.
• Must be able to push, pull, and lift residents.

Responsibilities

• Accept and transcribe verbal and telephone orders from physician on respiratory therapy procedures.
• Initiate, monitor, manage, troubleshoot, maintain, and wean residents from mechanical ventilators.
• Perform chest physiotherapy, including percussion, vibration, and bronchopulmonary drainage.
• Perform pulmonary function testing, oxygen, aerosol, and humidification administration.
• Document ventilator settings and response to therapy including vitals and prognosis.
• Provide education and in-service training to residents, families, nursing, and staff.
