Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) is seeking an Engineering Staff Associate to join our geotechnical and environmental core teams in Asheville, NC. You will support senior staff on diverse projects and gain hands-on experience while pursuing professional licensure in engineering fields.

You’ll perform site investigations, data collection, and basic analyses under supervision, with opportunities to contribute to reports, client communications, and project planning as you develop technical skills

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field from ABET-accredited program.
• 0-2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in relevant fields.
• Currently in progress towards obtaining Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification.
• Required to travel regularly to local and regional project sites (typically within South Carolina and surrounding states), potentially including overnight stays, and perform extensive fieldwork under varying environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical analyses, calculations, and design for various engineering projects, including site development, foundation design, retaining walls, earthwork, and pavements.
• Utilize engineering software and tools for design, modeling, and data analysis (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoStudio, gINT, Tablogs).
• Perform site investigations, field inspections, and data collection to support project objectives.
• Draft exploration reports for review by senior professionals.
• Develop and apply foundational knowledge in environmental regulations, civil design principles, geotechnical investigations, and construction material testing under supervision.
