Job summary

Bunnell-Lammons Engineering (BLE) invites applications for an Engineering Staff Associate to join our geotechnical team in Asheville, North Carolina. You will support senior staff on environmental, civil, and geotechnical projects, perform field and office tasks, and contribute to design calculations under supervision.

Ideal candidates hold an Associate’s degree in a related discipline, are at the start of the EIT/GIT pathway, and are willing to travel to local project sites; BLE offers

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of progressively responsible professional experience in relevant fields.
• Currently in progress towards Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical analyses, calculations, and design for projects including site development, foundation design, retaining walls, earthwork and pavements.
• Utilize engineering software and tools for design, modeling, and data analysis (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GeoStudio, gINT, Tablogs).
• Perform site investigations, field inspections, and data collection to support project objectives.
• Draft exploration reports for review by senior professionals.
• Develop and apply foundational knowledge in environmental regulations, civil design principles, geotechnical investigations, and construction material testing under direct supervision.
• Assist in client communication, maintaining professional demeanor and rapport under senior guidance.
• Adhere to quality control procedures and assist in reviewing data and reports for accuracy.
• Contribute to project planning and scheduling by assisting with task breakdown and resource allocation.
• Learn about project risks and safety compliance on sites and in the office.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, geologists, and technicians from various disciplines.
• Gain exposure to project contracts and vendor coordination under guidance.
• Support business development with data compilation for proposals and marketing materials.
• Track time utilization and report project progress to project managers.
