Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern to support our geotechnical team in Pennsylvania. The role emphasizes applying core engineering principles to real-world problems under supervision of senior staff, with hands-on field and office tasks from May through August 2027.

Ideal candidates are currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited civil engineering program, possess good communication skills, and are willing to perform both office and field duties,

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program; other programs may be considered.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
• Desire and willingness to work outdoors.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field work, including subsurface exploration observations and infiltration testing.
• Inspect construction sites and perform materials testing.
• Conduct laboratory testing.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Support engineers in preparing geotechnical proposals and reports.
• Some travel may be required.
