Job summary

Schnabel Inc. invites a Civil Engineering student to join as a temporary full-time intern for May through August 2027.

The role focuses on applying professional principles to real geotechnical problems under senior staff supervision, broadening practical knowledge in the earth and environment disciplines. Responsibilities include field work, lab testing, and creating basic AutoCAD/GIS drawings, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to work well in a team and follow direction.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including field work and office work.
• Desire and willingness to work outdoors and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field work including subsurface exploration and GPS layout of borings.
• Conduct construction observation and materials testing at sites.
• Perform laboratory testing.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Support engineers on preparing geotechnical proposals and reports.
• Some travel may be required.
