Job summary

Schnabel Inc. is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern to support our geotechnical and environmental projects.

This role emphasizes applying professional principles to real problems under senior supervision from May through August 2027, with opportunities to learn, grow, and excel in a collaborative, professional environment. Responsibilities include field work, construction observation, lab testing, and basic AutoCAD/GIS drafting, plus travel as needed.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering bachelor’s degree or enrollment in related program.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Willingness to perform office and field tasks, including outdoor work.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of field responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field work including subsurface exploration, GPS layout of borings, and infiltration testing.
• Conduct construction observation and materials testing at job sites.
• Carry out laboratory testing as needed.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Support engineers in preparing geotechnical proposals and reports.
• Travel to project sites as required.
