Job summary

Schnabel Inc. is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern to support our geotechnical, geostructural, and earth-related projects. The internship runs from May through August 2027, offering hands-on experience under senior engineers in a collaborative, client-focused setting.

You’ll assist with investigations, design tasks, construction plans, and field testing, with travel as needed. Strong communication and teamwork are essential, along with a willingness to work outdoors and lift

Qualifications

• Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; good computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
• Desire and willingness to work outdoors; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in geotechnical investigations and analyses, retaining wall/excavation support design, hydrology and hydraulic studies; and reinforced concrete design.
• Prepare construction plans.
• Support advanced earthquake engineering analyses.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing.
• Some travel may be required.
