Job summary

Schnabel invites applications for a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern to support our growing firm. The emphasis is on broadening practical knowledge under the supervision of senior engineering personnel. The internship runs from May through August 2027.

The role includes geotechnical investigations, construction plans, earthquake analyses, and materials testing, with some travel. Enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor's program.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
• Desire to work outdoors.
• Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assisting geotechnical investigations and analyses, retaining wall/excavation support design, hydrology and hydraulic studies; and reinforced concrete design.
• Preparing construction plans.
• Supporting advanced earthquake engineering analyses.
• Performing construction observation and materials testing.
• Some travel may be required.
