The internship emphasizes applying professional principles to real problems, with duties in geotechnical field work, laboratory testing, and AutoCAD/GIS drafting. Strong communication and teamwork are essential; outdoor work and lifting up to 50 lbs may be required.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program; BS degree not yet completed may be considered.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform office and field tasks; outdoor work readiness.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field work including subsurface exploration observations, GPS boring layouts, and infiltration testing.
• Conduct construction observation and materials testing at sites.
• Perform laboratory testing.
• Create basic plans/figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Support engineers in preparing geotechnical proposals/reports.
• Some travel may be required.
