Job summary

Schnabel is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern for May–August 2027 to support our geotechnical, geostructural, tunnel, and dam engineering work. The role emphasizes broadening practical knowledge under senior supervision, with opportunities for hands-on field and office tasks.

Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program is required; strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s program.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy.
• Ability to work with direction as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field work: observing subsurface exploration, using GPS to layout borings, and infiltration testing.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing at project sites.
• Perform laboratory testing.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Provide support to engineers on preparing geotechnical proposals and reports.
• Some travel may be required.
