Job summary

Schnabel is seeking a temporary full-time Civil Engineering Intern for May–August 2027 to support growing projects. The role emphasizes applying professional principles to real problems under supervision of senior engineers, with exposure to field and office tasks.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering programs, possess good communication skills, and are willing to work outdoors and travel if needed.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering student currently enrolled.
• Strong oral and written communication and computer literacy.
• Ability to work under guidance as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work.
• Desire and willingness to work outdoors and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical field work including observing geotechnical subsurface exploration.
• Use GPS to layout borings and perform infiltration testing.
• Perform construction observation and materials testing at construction sites.
• Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
• Provide support to engineers on preparing geotechnical proposals and reports.
• Some travel may be required.
