Job summary

Illumina is seeking a Field Service Engineer 2 to install and maintain sequencing hardware, troubleshoot on-site, and resolve customer issues while maintaining strong relationships with customers and internal teams.

You will travel within Colorado and Wyoming up to 50% and collaborate with Field Applications Scientists, Territory Account Managers, and the broader service organization to ensure instrument uptime and customer success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and at least 2 years of field service experience.
• Experience with optical alignments, robotics, electrical/electronics, and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with genomics, sequencing applications, and bioinformatics.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain sequencing hardware; troubleshoot on-site and resolve customer issues.
• Serve as engineering consultant during pre- and post-sales activities and collaborate with the commercial team to maximize uptime and satisfaction.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers and internal teams (Field Service, Sales, Marketing, Quality).
• Coordinate and prioritize service requests and ensure proper inventory levels for first-time fixes.
• Travel within Colorado and Wyoming to support customers (up to 50%).
