Job summary

Illumina is seeking a Field Service Engineer 2 in Colorado to install, service, and maintain genetic sequencing instruments. You will support customers onsite, troubleshoot complex systems, and coordinate with regional teams to ensure uptime and satisfaction.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering, 2+ years of field service experience, strong problem-solving, and the ability to travel up to 50%. You will join a collaborative team focused on high-quality service and customer success in

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Willing to travel within Colorado and Wyoming.
• Minimum two years of Field Service experience.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with optical alignments, robotics, electrical/electronics, and mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with genomics, sequencing applications, and bioinformatics.
• Ability to operate as an independent contributor and as part of a team.
• Willing to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Interface between field organization and internal support with timely onsite technical assistance to Customers, Field Applications Specialists, and Territory Account Managers.
• Install, upgrade, repair, and maintain instrument systems in defined territory.
• Utilize and maintain up-to-date service manuals, Field Service Bulletins, SOPs; facilitate remote connectivity to instrumentation.
• Provide technical support to customers, junior engineers, colleagues and contractors.
• Coordinate and prioritize service requests to maximize customer satisfaction and first-time fix.
• Ensure proper inventory levels and control accuracy of service parts.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing to coordinate new system placements, discover leads, and promote upgrades and contract renewals.
• Build and maintain relationships with key customers to ensure product success.
• Maintain compliance with administrative responsibilities and business rules.
• Operate effectively in regulated environments.
