Job summary

PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, is seeking a Service Technician – Commercial Generators in Durham, NC. Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment, with technical support to customers on operational aspects.

The role requires field experience servicing generator systems, reading schematics, engine diagnostics, and coordinating with Product Support. Expect daily travel, on-call duties, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Three years of field experience servicing generator systems (Level II).
• Six years field experience with 500kW+ generators (Level III).
• Ten years field experience across generator sizes; expert maintenance (Level IV).
• Ability to perform triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel priming.
• High School diploma or GED; related military or equivalent experience.
• Expert with major engine repairs; Volvo and PSI engines.

Responsibilities

• Daily travel to customer sites with independent work structure.
• Provide 24x7 on-call services as required unless on PTO or Off Call.
• Maintain and safeguard company equipment, tools, and instruments.
• Battery installations and replacements; preventive maintenance on contract equipment.
• Customer contact and interface; communicate status to corporate office.
• Coordinate and manage on-site subcontractors and maintain vehicle safety.
• Complete paperwork timely (Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, etc.).
• Provide technical support to customers and maintain documentation.
