Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) in Florida seeks a Generator Field Service Technician to service, repair, and maintain diesel and gas engine-driven standby generators in the field for residential, commercial, and industrial clients. You’ll perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and diagnoses to keep critical power on.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Technical school is desired to include generators, diesel, power gen, electric power, relay, or substation technology, etc.
• Some experience in repair or maintenance of generators preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mechanical aptitude will work instead of technical school and generator experience.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Must have at least 3 years of experience operating a vehicle with a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
• Must have a satisfactory driving record with the ability to obtain a DOT medical certification.
• Ability to service clients after hours and on-call as needed.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, operating manuals, and safety guidelines.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 75 lbs. in weight
• Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Service, repair, and maintain diesel and gas engine-driven standby generators in the field.
• Help residential, commercial, and industrial clients keep their power on.
• Perform preventative maintenance such as oil & filter changes and inspections.
• Conduct testing including load bank and ATS checks; perform function testing.
• Troubleshoot components such as alternators, wiring, switches, and battery systems.
• Assist with commissioning and start-ups, including control panels and network integration.
• Travel in a company vehicle to local counties and maintain vehicle inventory.
