Job summary

NC State Dining at NC State University in Raleigh, NC seeks a General Manager to lead a premier retail dining unit. You will oversee strategic planning, financial stewardship, and daily operations with culinary staff reporting directly to you.

The role requires expansive leadership, budget discipline, and a focus on delivering high-quality service to students, faculty and staff. Working hours may include nights, weekends, and holidays; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Home Economics, Hospitality Management or related discipline and one year of food management experience.
• Or an Associate’s degree in a related discipline and three years of food management experience.
• Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Experience supervising that includes hiring, training, employee relations, coaching and team building.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and financial stewardship of the NC State Dining unit, with day-to-day management by a culinary staff team.
• Design and execute marketing programs and strategies for the unit, including campus and corporate partners.
• Lead and manage staff, approve leave, coach performance, and coordinate with HR.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, food safety standards, and safety protocols.
• Oversee unit operations to meet budget goals, labor costs, and food cost targets.
• Foster communication with chefs, dietitian, and campus partners to maintain high service quality.
• Coordinate training, staff development, and team-building initiatives.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics / Home Economics / Hospitality Management

One year of food management experience

Associate’s degree in a related discipline with three years of food management experience

Equivalent combination of training and experience
