Job summary

Carvana in Elyria, OH is seeking a Safety & Security team member for an on-site, full-time hourly position. You’ll monitor the gate, perform safety audits, respond to incidents, and help keep the site open and secure across weather and busy days.

You’ll work a schedule with early morning shifts, use CCTV and RFID tools, and partner with Inspection Center and Logistics. The role requires strong communication, quick decision-making, and a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in a customer service environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• A track record of solid decision-making in a complex, fast-moving environment.
• Ability to build strong working relationships and connect with people quickly.
• Ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple tasks at once in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to handle conflict in a positive, productive way.

Responsibilities

• Lead with a service-first mindset in every interaction.
• Be the face of Carvana at the gate for associates, vendors, and visitors.
• Communicate clearly and actively listen to avoid missed signals.
• Use CCTV/RFID tools to monitor and audit safety conditions on site.
• De-escalate conflicts and collaborate with partners to resolve issues.
• Run point at the gate using the SAS App and RFID tech to enforce procedures.
• Manage and document vehicle movement through inspection entrances and exits.
• Receive training in first aid, CPR, and AED and use them as needed.
• Know emergency protocols and act decisively when seconds count.
• Maintain site operations in all weather through proactive safety practices.
• Identify hazards, run safety audits, and reinforce safe practices with staff.
• Scan vehicles and track location using handheld/mobile tech for accurate records.
• Cover large areas on foot to reach restricted or hard-to-access locations.
• Prepare and deliver detailed operational reports to leadership.
