Job summary

The Salvation Army in the United States is seeking an experienced Special Events & Community Engagement Specialist to lead annual campaigns and major gifts efforts. You will work with division staff to plan, implement, and evaluate fundraising programs, including events, donor relations, and media outreach.

The role requires collaboration with the Development Department, a strong track record in nonprofit fundraising, and the ability to drive campaigns that meet budget goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years’ work-related experience in nonprofit fundraising preferred.
• Comprehensive experience in nonprofit fundraising, including prospect research, donor relations and solicitation.
• CFRE credentials or similar are a plus.
• Must pass all applicable background checks and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements a fundraising plan to meet budgeted goals for current and expanded operations.
• Secures major gifts from individuals and corporate foundations with staff support.
• Manages media relations strategy with local media and coordinates speaking opportunities.
• Leads digital fundraising efforts and creates promotional materials for programs and services.
• Participates in advisory boards and committees to steer development activities.
• Oversees fundraising campaigns, tracking progress and coordinating with planned giving.
• Maintains donor records in Salesforce and ensures data accuracy.
• Supports program development and prepares reports for leadership.
