The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division seeks an experienced Development Director to oversee the development agenda for The Salvation Army Elkhart, Indiana service areas. You will coordinate donor development, capital campaigns, grants, events, and media outreach to secure resources for the mission.

You will work with corps leadership to plan fundraising strategies, supervise a development team, and ensure compliance with safety and background checks.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field of public relations and fund raising.
• Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver’s qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 30 days of employment.

Responsabilités

• Manage, direct, and coordinate the development function serving the Corps.
• Oversee foundation relations - Engage in donor development, manage capital campaigns, participate in grant-writing, special events, media opportunities, etc.
• Advance the capability of the development team and systems (donor relations, mail appeal, media campaigns, special events, planned giving/legacies, etc.).
• Manage all aspects of the mail appeal, operating, capital and endowment fundraising campaigns, and coordinate this activity with the Divisional Development department.
• Work closely with the corps officers/leadership team to plan fundraising events strategies, develop agendas and recommendations for future initiatives.
• Work closely with leadership team on seasonal fundraising.
• Coordinate media and public relations outreach (print, radio, television, service clubs, community organizations etc.).
• Manage special events
• Identify public relations opportunities
• Serve as a liaison to the Advisory Board as requested
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Other tasks as assigned by leadership
