Job summary

Jefferson Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to join the intraoperative care team. The CST will maintain the sterile field, anticipate surgeon needs, and support preoperative to post-operative care while ensuring patient safety and high-quality care.

The role includes assisting with decontamination, sterile supply, and acting as a preceptor to staff as needed in a fast-paced operating room environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and completion of a surgical technician training program.
• Knowledge of effective communication with patients and families.
• Ability to maintain patient safety and comply with health standards.
• Understanding of perioperative environments and sterile technique.

Responsibilities

• Inspects OR for cleanliness and prepares equipment and supplies for procedures.
• Participates in time-out and ensures patient safety during procedures.
• Assists with gowning/gloving and sterile field setup.
• Counts sharps and instruments with circulating nurse and maintains sterile field.
• Precepts other surgical team members as needed.
