Job summary

Sodexo at the New Mexico Military Institute is seeking a Cook I to prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold foods for all meals and events, following Sodexo’s culinary standards and safety guidelines.

In a fast-paced kitchen, you will work with a team to deliver high-quality dishes, maintain clean stations, and ensure accurate production while meeting health and sanitation requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food in accordance with current applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations.
• Follow recipes and directions for soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other items.
• Taste products, estimate food requirements, check production, and plan production needs.
• Walk, stand, and lift up to 50 pounds; maintain a clean workstation.
• Attend shifts on time and perform other duties as needed.
