Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Cook I at the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus to prepare and present a variety of hot and cold dishes for all meals and events, following Sodexo’s culinary standards for quality, presentation, and consistency. The position is in a fast‑paced kitchen where you must follow recipes, portion accurately, and ensure food safety and sanitation while keeping a clean workstation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold food items.
• Ensure food prepared safely, accurately, and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
• Collaborate with kitchen team to deliver high-quality dishes.
