Job summary

Sodexo at Merrimack College is seeking a Cook to accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and cold items for all meals and events, in line with culinary standards.

In a fast-paced kitchen, you will ensure safety, sanitation, and quality while maintaining an organized workstation. This entry-level role supports teamwork and a commitment to delivering high-quality dining experiences.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
• 0 to 2 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of basic operation of equipment and food-handling procedures preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good working knowledge of food preparation.
• Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to read and follow a recipe unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, cook and present hot and cold foods according to standards.
• Follow recipes and directions for preparing, seasoning and serving foods.
• Estimate food requirements and keep records to plan production and requisition supplies.
• Significant walking or other mobility.
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods.
• Lift up to 35 pounds; occasionally 50 pounds.
• Perform repetitive motions.
• Attend work on time; reliable attendance.
• Other duties as needed.
