City Year AmeriCorps Member is an entry-level, full-time, paid role focusing on coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success and improved attendance. You will work with identified students 1:1 and in small groups, supported by 2-4 weeks of training at the start of the year.

You will collaborate with teachers, plan literacy and math activities, and contribute to behavior management and student progress reviews.

Competenze

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location)

Mansioni

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities
• Create and implement a behavior management system for students
• Develop interpersonal skills through daily learning, practice, reflection and repetition
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year’s data system
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space with teachers' collaboration
• Support extended day and virtual programming before, during and after school
• Co-lead events or programs recognizing student growth in math, literacy, attendance and behavior
