Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic success, attendance, and behavior. You’ll plan progress, collaborate with teachers, and contribute to whole-class instruction and targeted student assistance.

We provide 2-4 weeks of training, work with partner teachers, and serve in schools to foster student growth and engagement. Entry-level paid full-time AmeriCorps service with benefits and stipends.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (DACA not eligible).
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college, or college degree.
• Have served no more than three AmeriCorps terms.
• Agree to and complete a background check.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress.
• Collaborate with teachers on instruction and student support.
• Develop literacy and math skills through varied activities.
• Create a positive classroom environment in partnership with staff.
• Support after-school and enrichment programs for student engagement.
