City Year AmeriCorps Member is an entry-level, paid, full-time position focused on coaching and mentoring students to achieve academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive school behaviors. Members receive training, work with teachers and students, and participate in school-wide initiatives.

The role emphasizes collaboration with staff, data-driven progress monitoring, and creating engaging classroom environments while supporting students from diverse academic backgrounds.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
• Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
• Agree to and complete a background check
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025

Responsabilités

• Coach and mentor elementary, middle and/or high school students to earn academic success and improve attendance
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and work with teachers on in-class support
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students: 1:1 and small groups
• Develop literacy and/or math skills with varied activities
• Create and implement a behavior management system
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and monitor student progress in City Year data system
• Create an engaging, safe and healthy classroom space
• Support Whole School initiatives and extended day/virtual programs and events recognizing student growth
• Participate in 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year
