Job summary

The City of Hartford information technology team seeks a Microcomputer Technician to deliver front-line support for City of Hartford and Hartford Public Schools end users. You will diagnose hardware and software issues, install and configure PCs, printers, and mobile devices, and coordinate with network teams to resolve connectivity problems.

Candidates should have a four-year degree in IS/CS/IT with relevant help desk experience or an equivalent combination, plus CompTIA A+ certification.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Information Systems, Computer Science or Information Technology; AND One year of experience in a help desk or desktop support role within the last eight years.
• OR Associate’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Information Technology; AND Three years of experience in a help desk or desktop support role within the last eight years.
• OR High School Diploma or GED plus valid CompTIA A+ Certification (current) and five years of help desk/desktop support experience within the last eight years.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line IT technical support and troubleshooting for City of Hartford end users.
• Install, configure, maintain desktop PCs, printers, mobile devices, and related software/hardware.
• Diagnose and resolve Windows and other OS issues; coordinate with vendors and IT staff as needed.
