Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a dedicated asset protection team member to deter theft and maintain store safety. You will engage with customers at entry and exit points, validate receipts, and recover unpaid merchandise, while remaining alert to safety concerns.

The role emphasizes strong communication, quick response to incidents, and the ability to move throughout the store to monitor activity. Training includes de-escalation techniques and technology use.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of customer service or asset protection experience.
• Clear and professional written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to move throughout work area for long periods.
• Ability to respond to alerts quickly and urgently.
• Ability to learn and interact with new technology solutions.
• Ability to learn and apply negotiation and de-escalation techniques.
• Ability to maintain knowledge of product locations to direct customers.
• Ability to work successfully with conflict.
• Physical requirements include standing, walking, bending and lifting.

Responsibilities

• Actively identify and quickly resolve unsafe conditions and situations.
• Prevent theft through an active presence and engagement with customers entering and exiting.
• Respond to alerts urgently to check receipts, recover unpaid merchandise, and resolve alarms.
• Document and communicate theft, safety, and alarm activity incidents.
