Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement and performance across the span of care within the store network. This role oversees Leads and Team Leaders, coaching staff to achieve service excellence while managing budgetary and operational metrics.

The candidate will develop talent, lead onboarding and development initiatives, and uphold Meijer’s culture with a focus on safety and process improvements for sustainable growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members clearly.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Commitment to safe working practices and incident prevention.
• Strong business acumen and merchandising awareness.

Responsibilities

• Engage with team across span of care to ensure onboarding, training and coaching.
• Identify talent and plan succession and staffing strategies.
• Hold teams accountable to Meijer standards and provide growth opportunities.
• Oversee area operations and financial results, including budgeting and forecasting.
• Drive safety, compliance, and overall store condition management.
• Direct Leads and Team Leaders, and guide daily work assignments.
