Yale New Haven Health is seeking a Unit Clerk/Receptionist to greet patients, visitors and staff, coordinate appointments, and support clinical teams in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Under general supervision, you will perform clerical tasks, manage mail and messages, maintain records, and ensure a clean, safe work environment while upholding patient rights.

Candidates should have a minimum high school diploma and 1–2 years of administrative experience in healthcare, with strong computer skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–2 years administrative clerical experience preferred in patient care environment.
  • Prior computer usage strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as receptionist, greeting and interacting with patients, visitors and others.
  • Greets all patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Performs various unit clerical tasks including mailing, messages, record-keeping, typing, and filing.
  • Distributes mail, utilizes paging system, takes and delivers messages for unit personnel.
  • Schedules patient appointments in coordination with the clinical staff.
  • Interacts with all others in a manner consistent with excellent hospital public relations.
  • Maintains safe, clean, and organized environment in all clerical areas.
  • Respects patients' rights at all times identified within the institution.
  • Assists in maintaining supplies at appropriate inventory levels.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations as directed.
